Angela Hewitt

A pianist with a devoted following is at home in recitals, chamber music and concertos

After attending her concert last month, the abudant dipictions of immediate overwhelming by solo masters and maetero conductors in live concerts are no longer myths to me. This seems quite an old fashioned lengend of a soloist for Angela Hewitt whose virtuoso is largely being appreciated and celebrated through LIVE musics across the concert and recital halls worldwide. While comparing the stint titles available in her cd catalog including merely J.S. Bach and handful few pieces of other composers to the wide repertoires she has been playing throughout her recitals and concerts, this impression inevitable enters my mind. But, please don’t get me wrong! Being neither a hardcore believer in the cult of fresh live performance like S. Celibidache nor a studio eccentric like the late Glenn Gould, Angela Hewitt is no less accessbile than any other living musicians. Her reputation is accumulating from both in and out the concert hall. There is no wonder that she is right on her way to be a national icon and one of the favorite figures on the international stage. So good luck.
